Doctors
Jami Stromberg, DVM
Dr. Jami Stromberg graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 1988 and spent the next eight years at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, where she obtained both her undergraduate and DVM degree. She then began an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey. After the year of intense training, she moved to New England and practiced in a 24-hour general / emergency / referral in Warick, Rhode Island. In 1999, she moved back home to Minnesota and practiced at the Animal Wellness Center of Maple Grove for seven years. Dr. Stromberg purchased the Brooklyn Park Pet Hospital in 2006.
As a general small animal veterinarian she has varied interests, but she especially enjoys the challenges of surgery and dentistry. She also has experience treating ferrets, rabbits, and rodents. Most importantly, she loves getting to know the family as a pet grows from puppy/kittenhood to old age.
Dr. Stromberg has a busy household that includes four small children (and many animals). In her free time, her latest venture is triathlon (swimming - biking - running), although she also enjoys other sports, reading and working around the house.
Karin Christopher, DVM
Dr. Karin Christopher left her hometown in southern California to attend veterinary school at Ross University in St. Kitts. She completed her senior clinical year at the University of Missouri and graduated in 2000. A one-year internship at the University of Minnesota brought her further north, after which time she made Minnesota her home. She worked in the emergency medicine field for four years, two of which were spent as Director of Emergency Services at a referral/specialty clinic. She spent 2 years at the University of Minnesota as an Assistant Clinical Professor teaching 4th-year veterinary students and, before coming to Brooklyn Park Pet Hospital, was self-employed as a relief veterinarian in the Twin Cities.
Dr. Christopher's primary interests as a general practitioner include preventative, internal and emergency medicine. Her enjoyment of working with people and their companion pets is especially rewarding and is the common thread that links these interests. The humananimal- bond is very strong in her own household and she strives to provide education and evidence-based medical advice to support that bond between her clients and their pets.
At home with her husband, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds and triplets, there is little free time. Besides the joy of spending time with her family she enjoys traveling, reading, knitting and curling.
